Socializing is one of the most natural things a person can do. You see a person you know, smile, and converse. Catch up on life since the last time you interfaced, and move on. The part people forget about is the anxiety of it all.
When we are adolescents, we are allowed to feel unsure, anxious, have low self esteem and low self worth. As an adult approaching their 30s, it’s not as widely accepted nor understood. We should have worked through those issues years ago. Reminding us that we are regressing.
The terrific moment when you make
plans to meet up with someone and your heart skips, not out of excitement, but crippling fear. Putting on different outfits and penciling in your eyeliner while carefully planning the course of conversation. And thinking to yourself, what other 20 something year old does
this?
